My work is contemporary abstract-oil-painting. I utilize a systemic approach to painting in this paintings series. Systemic is a term used to describe a type of modern abstract painting process that evolves with a system. The particular system used in these paintings involved the creation of a numbered list of what I call combinations of form (which I also destroyed). I designed sketches from the numbered list. I then chose and combined them as they related to one another in the finished products which you see in these paintings. Hard edge is simply a term used in abstract-oil-painting to describe distinct divisions between colors and refers to boundaries or edges of color.
This work involves spontaneity and association. They are experimentations with paint and subject matter. They involve using the abstract-oil-painting process without having a clear image of the final product, and are based on the dadaist idea of subconcious self-expression.
